| The Original Chapel Door of 1666 |
On view was the original door to Charterhouse Chapel, which saved the building from destruction in the Great Fire of London in 1666.
The fire burned for four days and nights and by the time it was extinguished had claimed 80% of the city.

Thankyou to Karen Wortley for her splendid photographs of the memorable London event in April. Yale University Press has now published its long awaited volume on the Charterhouse. At £80.00 (slightly less through online booksellers) this will not be everybody's immediate purchase but will be the authoratative word on the subject for many years to come.
